Trumbull Peak Lookout sets on the edge of the ridge overlooking the Merced River to the south. The lookout tower, an Aeromotor design 45 feet tall, was built by the CCC in 1934. The residence cabin behind it was built also by the CCC in 1935. The tower was last staffed in the 1970's. This lookout is on the National Historic Lookout Register #285. The cabin is a bad shape now, but it was not damaged by the recent Motor Fire that swept up the ridge in September, 2011. | |||||||||||
