Pegleg Mountain Lookout, Lassen County, California

Located in the Lassen National Forest, Elevation = 7112 ft.

A recent photo of Pegleg Lookout taken June 7, 2016. The lookout was staffed by Vickie Lamoureux who is employed by the Lassen National Forest. She said the lookout was run by CalFire, but was not staffed for ten years from 2005 to 2015.
This is the foundation of the original lookout that is on the south side and close to the new tower. This building was removed and is now at the Susanville Fairgrounds.
The original storage shed on the west side of the lookout.
The Pegleg Lookout was in good condition, but not staffed in the summer of 2012 when this photo was taken. This is a fairly new structure having been built in 1984. Information on the survey datasheet says there was a wooden structure here in 1948. It was staffed by the California Division of Forestry. Photo July 15, 2012.
An older photo taken by Fred Johnson on July 4, 2002. The lookout was staffed at that time.
The benchmark disk is north of the building and has no stamping to indicate the name or date. The datasheet indicates there was a disk placed in 1948. This may have been destroyed during construction of the new building.
