Park Ridge is staffed by volunteers. The lookout is reached by a 2.5 mile hike on a good trail or service road from Panorama Point to the north. The first lookout at this site was an open-air platform with a lean-to shelter built in 1916. In 1934 a classic two-story wooden lookout was built. This was replaced in 1964 by the 20 foot high steel tower with a 14 foot by 14 foot cab which still stands today. This lookout is on the National Historic Lookout Register #892.
