Buck Rock sets on top of a granite dome and is one of the most spectacular lookout locations in California. The structure, built in 1923, is one of the oldest lookouts still in use. This lookout is on the National Historic Lookout Register #284. Photos taken August 11, 2008 | |||||||||||

Visiting hours for the lookout. Usually staffed from June through October. Drive the General's Highway (#198) south to Forest Road 14S11, turn left to Big Meadows. After 2.5 miles turn north on 13S04 to the lookout. Good roads all the way. | |||||||||||
