| Bear Basin Butte Lookout was originally on French Hill. In the summer of 1996 the French Hill building was dismantled and rebuilt on this site and set up as a rental. A new cabin close to the lookout with bunk beds and wood stove was built to accommodate visitors. This is called the Pierson Cabin and is rented with the lookout. For rental information contact the Six Rivers National Recreation Area office in Gasquet, California at: 707-457-3131. This lookout is on the National Historic Lookout Register #288.
