Atascosa (Lookout Site), Santa Cruz County, Arizona, Elev.= 6249 ft.

This footing is all that remains of the Atascosa Lookout which was destroyed in the June 6, 2011 Murphy fire. The wood building was 14ft. by 14ft. on the foundation. It had rain gutters to collect rainwater for a cistern. In spite of being destroyed this lookout is on the National Historic Lookout Register #201. Photo taken April 19, 2024.
The primary benchmark found at the site placed in 1935. Datasheet: CG1116 The name is misspelled.
